Spartans catch fire, beat Huskies

In their second game in two nights, the Spartans beat the Uconn Huskies in the PK80 Tournament semifinals of the victory bracket in Portland, OR. The Spartans were led by yet another career night for a Spartan guard. This time the Spartans rolled behind 28 points from Cassius Winston who caught fire much like the rest of the team in the second half as the Spartans rolled to a 77-57 victory over the Huskies after only being up by one at the half. This matchup also saw the return of Miles Bridges after he missed the tourney opener with that twisted ankle. Though he didn't start he played fairly well going for 6 points and 8 rebounds playing most of the second half after only five minutes in the first half. Freshman forward Jaren Jackson Jr corralled his second straight double-double going for 12 points and 10 rebounds. Adams and Larrier led the Huskies with 22 and 18 respectively. The Huskies were able to beat the Oregon Ducks in their tournament opener. The Spartans move on to the PK80 Tournament Victory Bracket Championship on Sunday at 8:30 pm on ESPN and will face number 9, North Carolina. The Tar Heels are led by guard Joel Berry II. Other Games in the PK80 Tourney on Sunday include # 1 Duke versus #7 Florida in the Motion Bracket Championship, and also Texas versus Gonzaga in the 3rd place game. The 3rd place game in the victory bracket ill see UConn face Arkansas.
